Client stories
Notes from traders who sat the intensive, booked coaching, or joined evening chart reviews — including where the work still felt hard.
Voices from recent cohorts
“I had been jumping into breakouts the moment a candle closed above resistance. After the intensive I sit through the retest more often than not — still miss some, but the impulse trades dropped sharply.”
— Marcus H., Perth · Breakout & Retest Intensive“The evening reviews are quiet enough that you can disagree about a level without anyone talking over the chart. I wish the room had one more screen; we sometimes clustered around a single laptop.”
— Priya S., Joondalup · Evening chart review“Coaching forced me to bring my own ASX names instead of textbook examples. We threw out two of my ‘breakouts’ that were really just wide ranges. That stung, then helped.”
— Daniel R., Fremantle · One-to-one chart coaching“Foundations was slower than I expected, which I needed. I finally stopped redrawing support every session. Ready for the intensive next month.”
— Elena V., Subiaco · Market structure foundationsExtended note — Intensive cohort, autumn intake
A mid-career FX trader joined the Hillarys intensive after two years of self-study. Pre-work showed frequent entries on the break candle itself. Across four sessions we rebuilt his checklist around confirmation and retest depth, then sized positions to a fixed 0.5% risk. By the follow-up call he had logged twelve rehearsal trades on demo with written invalidation; three would have been skipped under his old habit of chasing the first close. He still struggles when London open expands noise around Asian ranges — that remains homework, not a solved problem.
Extended note — Coaching block after a failed live breakout
A client arrived angry at a loss on an ASX industrial name that “broke out” then reversed through the level. In two 90-minute sessions we reconstructed the chart: the break lacked follow-through volume, and the first retest was already a lower high inside the prior range. The work did not recover the loss; it clarified that the idea never met his own (newly written) confirmation rules. He booked a third session to mark three fresh candidates before the next earnings window.
